Florence Ngobeni & Robert Allen
The formal wedding ceremony of Rob & Florence was conducted in Johannesbury and Pretoria, South Africa. Circumstances dictated that we had to deliver some creative solutions for this event which made this a 'contributory' wedding from all the guests and friends of the couple. Florence Ngobeni is a high profile AIDS activist and the guest list reflected this.
The venue was kindly donated in the private residence of a dear friend. The wedding menu was contributed in full by the wedding guests, each preparing and delivering a part of the pre-planned menu. The musicians provided a special concessionary rate and a range of suppliers either made open contributions or special rates for their services. The wedding gown and bridesmaid dresses were handmade.
This was a very unusal approach for an event which presented many challenges, but very successful and extremely rewarding sense of achievement.
Ian Smith & Maxine McCalla-Kay
A personal and modest wedding was the desire with local sourced suppliers and nothing over the top.
After researching suppliers and tallying up costs, we saw the wedding budget climbing up and up and going from something we were really looking forward to, to something we were starting to dread.
The realisation that set in for us, we do events all the time, why not organise our own wedding. Blessed with our own lovely large garden we engaged a marquee supplier, the local restaurant and friends, Neil & Sarah Cooper at The Foxham Inn were our caterers and also supplied the waiting staff, the ceremony was a 100 yard walk down the village lane into St John the Baptist Chapel, a beautiful 18th Century stone chapel; all of which created a fairytale wedding of our dreams. The perfect day.
